the infamous burps

Hi there...like the board btw..anyway, I have a 95 savage and I took it to a Suzuki dealer and had him remove the white spacer and turn up the idle to get rid of the burps. He said the bike wouldn't idle and backfired even worse. Any other suggestions?? Thanks bunches.
